My backup sensors (I think there are backup / reversing sensors) do not seem to work.
and I would like to test and repair the system
And I am tired of backing into posts and walls.
I cannot find any mention of backup or reversing sensors in the service manual however.
can anyone direct me? or explain how I would test and replace if necessary?

When you shift into reverse, the distance indicator in centimeters should appear below the speedometer. If the Park Distance Control is malfunctioning, you can usually place your finger on those round bumps in the rear bumper. If they vibrate, the sensor is working properly. Otherwise, you'll need new sensors. I replaced all four sensors on my car, painted them to match the car’s color, and checked the wiring. That’s where the problem actually was. To do this, you can remove the bumper and unplug the PDC connector under the bumper. Then untangle all the cables from that fabric strap and check for continuity.

wow! that (seeing the distance from a wall) would be awesome.
when I am in R what is displayed on the screen is "FF" (I've never figured out what that means or indicates)
I'll investigate further.

You might also consider a WOLFBOX G900TriPro as a second project after having repaired the sensors.

FF indicates the malfunction… means one or more sensors are not working properly.
