one gas cooktop burner is weak and fails

we are just back from our first trip of the season, a quick two nights in Algonquin Park in Ontario Canada.
everything was working great when we left and for the first day - kuhlbox, water, cooktop, batteries.
Though I noticed that while one of the cooktop burners (the rear left hand) was very strong the other was very weak. so weak that it didn't even get hot enough to stay lit.
the only thing I can think of right away is that the gas line leading to that weak burner is clogged somehow - a spider web, a bug, dirt.
and so tomorrow I will remove the cooktop and run a piece of thin wire through the feed tube.
has anyone else had this problem? what did you do?
