propane tank with butane regulator

well, my JC has finally arrived in Canada, in Halifax port. and I am waiting anxiously for customs clearance to complete. (Anxious, because due to delays this is December now in Canada and the weather can be terrible, snowy and cold. and I have to drive back to Ontario in the centre of Canada)
as soon as it is cleared I will book my flight from Toronto to Halifax, grab it and (hopefully) hurry the 1800kms home.
so while I am sitting restlessly and watching the weather reports (as well as the airline fares increase) I thought I would put my mind to a useful puzzle.
how to adapt the butane gas system to the propane tanks we use here.?
I was not allowed to ship the original blue butane canister on the ship. (and of course I could wait a few days until I can actually physically examine the pieces but.... I need to kill time here)
so, I currently have the original regulator and hose for Butane. But no tank.
I can get a propane tank which has a Female fitting (see attached drawing) I believe it is called QCC1
but my easiest solution would be if I could find an adaptor that would fit between the propane tank and the butane regulator.
Does anyone know what "standard" the butane male fitting is called? (is that POL?)
another option is to just cut the hose on the butane side and splice on a standard propane regulator.
any suggestions?
Interestingly, my shipping company usually handles tourists bringing their camper vans to North America for short stays. I wonder what they do if they cannot bring their butane tank over either? though the shipping did say you could bring a brand new empty butane canister if you had the receipt
